SOP
Standard operating procedure. The written way a thing is done, and the standard an inspector holds you to.
An SOP turns intention into obligation: once the procedure says the audit trail is reviewed monthly, monthly is the standard you are audited against, regardless of what the regulation itself required. Write procedures you can live with, not procedures that sound impressive.
The deeper function is consistency across people and time. A process that lives in one expert's head is a single point of failure; an SOP plus training is how organizations remember.
